Komatsu to Showcase Cutting-Edge Automation, Electrification, and Sustainability Solutions at 2024 MINExpo

Las Vegas, NV Sept 24-26, 2024.  Komatsu will highlight its efforts to advance the automation and teleoperation of mining equipment, enhancing both safety and productivity at customer sites.

Featured at the event will be the Komatsu D475A-8 bulldozer and the ZT44 surface blasthole drill, both showcasing new teleoperation features. In addition, Komatsu will debut its Autonomous Light Vehicle (ALV) concept, designed to integrate with the company’s renowned Autonomous Haulage System (AHS). This groundbreaking concept is the result of Komatsu’s ongoing collaboration with Toyota Motor Corporation, initiated last year.

Attendees will have the opportunity to witness these technologies in action, with a live demonstration of the remote operation of both the D475A-8 and ZT44 drill from Komatsu’s booth. The equipment will be controlled from over 400 miles away at Komatsu’s Arizona Proving Grounds, and the demonstration will include a live broadcast of the ALV operating autonomously at the same location.

In addition to automation, Komatsu will introduce its first battery-electric Load-Haul Dump (LHD) machine, the WX04B, a 4-ton class vehicle designed for narrow vein underground mining. Alongside the WX04B, Komatsu will unveil a newly developed charging solution for battery-powered equipment.

Other sustainability-focused innovations on display will include the PC4000E-11, a 400-ton class tethered electric hydraulic excavator, as well as the latest advancements in power-agnostic trucks, which can be adapted to various energy sources.

Following Komatsu’s acquisition of GHH Group GmbH, a leading manufacturer of underground mining equipment, the company will also exhibit a range of new Load-Haul Dump machines and underground mining dump trucks, now branded under the Komatsu name. These additions underscore Komatsu’s commitment to expanding its offerings for hard rock underground mining customers.

Komatsu remains dedicated to innovation and value creation, empowering a sustainable future for people, businesses, and the planet.
